Gunman Robs Father and Shoots His 5-Year-Old Son in East St. Louis


A five-year-old boy proved to be no match for a gun-wielding thug in East St. Louis yesterday afternoon.

As the Belleville News-Democrat reports, the child's father had just returned to the Samuel Gompers Homes (photo above) around 2 p.m. he was confronted by an "acquaintance" with a gun.

According to East St. Louis police the boy walked into the apartment during the robbery. The startled the gunman fired a shot, grazing the child.

The boy is being treated at St. Louis Children's Hospital. The gunman fled the scene. The father tells police that hhe only knows the suspect by a nickname.
