Johnny Londoff Sr.: Legendary St. Louis Chevrolet Dealer Dies at 85

KMOX radio host Charlie Brennan just reported on his show that long-time St. Louis auto dealer, Johnny Londoff Sr., passed away this morning at the age of 85. Brennan, a personal friend of the Chevrolet dealer, says that Londoff had been suffering a long illness.

Londoff may be best remembered for his commercials in which he'd state that "because we own our building and lot" his dealership could offer lower prices than car dealers that leased their facilities. The commercials also ended with the tag line jingle at the end of his commercials -- Johnny Londoff Chevrolet.

Londoff's son, Johnny Londoff Jr., now operates the family's Florissant dealership.
