Reed allegedly approached the women on the street and took them behind abandoned houses to rape them.
The St. Louis County
Prosecuting Attorney's Office on Saturday issued warrants on Carnell Reed
, 35, for two counts of forcible rape. Reed, of the 2100 block of Orbitt Drive in north county, is currently being held on $200,000 cash only bond.
Reed is accused of raping a 35-year-old victim on Tuesday, January 19. The woman told police that the suspect approached her on
around 5:30 AM near the area of Chambers and Baron. He announced he had a gun, walked
behind an abandoned house and raped her.
On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at
12:05 AM, the second victim, a 21-year-old female stated a suspect
her on foot near the area of Chambers and Monarch. He, too, announced he had a
walked her behind an abandoned house and raped her.
In both cases the
fled on foot.
Commenting on Reed's arrest today, St. Louis County
Police Chief Timothy Fitch stated:
"I commend the actions of the officers in the North
detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and Crime Scene
were able to identify and apprehend a suspect. Their dedication and
