Discussing Svejkosky's murder, East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks Jr. told the Belleville News-Democrat:
"We're always disappointed whenever we have someone killed in the city of East St. Louis. It's disheartening to see anyone killed anywhere, but I am confident that the police department will ascertain what the cause of this homicide is and hopefully find the perpetrator so that justice can be rendered to this individual's family.
