Family of St. Louis Ghetto-Mart Owners Sold Stolen Property, Sent $ Back to Palestine


Have you recently picked up cigarettes, infant formula, GPS devices or computers from any of the convenience stores on the map below? Friend, you might have some hot merch on your hands (and your money's been wired to the Palestinian territories!).

Yes, the U.S. Attorney's office announced yesterday that an eight-person "criminal enterprise" that the feds are referring to as the "Hamed Organization" has pleaded guilty to racketeering, bank fraud, receipt of stolen property, and some other charges beginning around 2000.  

Those pleading guilty are:
Bassam Hisham Hamed (the "chief executive"), Ghandi Hisham Hamed, Ayoub Hisham Hamed, Said Jarabaa, Suhail Jarabaa, Mohammed Badwan, Mazen Badwan and Nael Abdeljabbar, all of north St. Louis County. A lot of these folks are related to each other.

Says the U.S. Attorney:
The enterprise bought the stolen property at rates significantly below fair market retail value and sold the items through the convenience stores at a large profit.
They then transferred it to "entities in the Palestinian territories." It's unclear whether "entities" means terrorist organizations, such as Hamas, or Obama's re-election campaign.
