Aaron's Thing of the Week - 9th September, 2009: Green Bird

Howdy, folks. I know I haven't done one of these in quite a while, but I'm going to rectify that situation starting right now.

This week's thing is perhaps my very favorite scene I've ever seen in any movie, television show, or anything else. It comes from the old anime series Cowboy Bebop (itself one of my favorite things)and if you aren't familiar, you don't know what you've missed.

The scene itself is the end of the 5th episode of the show, entitled "Ballad of Fallen Angels." The song backing it is called "Green Bird", and I ended up paying 50 bucks for an imported copy of the show's soundtrack years and years ago just to get my hands on this particular piece of music.

There's a bunch of stuff going on here, but honestly, it doesn't really matter if you don't follow much of it. The animation and the music are perfect enough on their own, even lacking context. Regardless, I enjoy sharing things I like with all of you out there, so here you go.
