Michael Goulbourne, an eighth grader at Normandy Middle School, became the city's 40th murder victim Friday night when thieves held up a food stand in north St. Louis.

Goulbourne was working at the Mi Hungry barbecue stand in the 1200 block of N. Kingshighway Friday around 8 p.m. when a blue, late-1980s or early-1990s Pontiac pulled up and four men exited the car to demand money.

Police report that the group robbed Gilbourne -- and a 50-year-old co-worker -- of cash and jewelry before shooting them. Gilbourne died at the scene. The older, coworker was shot in the hand and is in stable condition.
