Friday's "Ass Clown" poll was a close one with rowdy students, newspaper executives, Elks and questionable businessmen all in the the running.

In the end, though, it was executives of U.S. Fidelis who earned the most ire among Daily RFT readers. The Wentzville-based auto-warranty firm is being investigated by several states attorneys generals for questionable business practices. Meanwhile, one of the company's owners -- a convicted thief -- is building himself a $17-million mansion.

U.S. Fidelis captured 40 percent of the vote. A close second (36 percent) went to Lee Enterprises -- owner of the Suburban Journals -- that recently fired a journaist who took a bullet while reporting for the paper.

Members of the Elks Club came in third followed by students at a city charter school involved in a huge fight last week that left one girl stabbed and several adults injured when they tried to stop the melee.

Thanks everyone for voting, and remember to send me your own nominees by Thursday evening.
