Monday, April 6, Morning's Newz

Word of the day: Schadenfreude. That's the simple pleasure I'll enjoy today in not scoring tickets to this afternoon's opening day at Busch Stadium. The forecast calls for snow, rain and high temps in the upper-30s. So, enjoy the game all who are going. I hope you get pneumonia*. Which reminds me...I do like the advertisement the Cardinals ran on the cover of today's Post-Dispatch. It's message? Reminder: Call in sick today.

An undercover St. Louis police officer was shot last night while on patrol. He is recovering from a wound to the shoulder and face. Police are searching for suspects.

St. Louis scored in the bottom ten percent of a study measuring "job sprawl." Six out of ten jobs in the regions are located 10 miles outside downtown St. Louis. Of 98 cities polled for the survey, St. Louis has the ninth-lowest percentage of jobs located in its downtown core. I guess that officially discredits that RCGA slogan for St. Louis: "Perfectly centered. Remarkably connected."

It's April 6, a.k.a. Tartan Day in North America. Though I suggest if you wear a kilt on this frigid day, you might want to accompany it with a thick pair of tights.

*not really.
