Nothin' like a "brief" run in the park
Normally, Unreal would buckle up and run at the merest mention of the word "colorectal," but Unreal's pants practically plunked straight to the parquet this morning after we opened a catchy little e-mail entitled "Undy 5000."
Has anyone heard of this thing?
It's apparently "a brief run to fight colon cancer,"
taking place on Saturday, March 28th, in Forest Park. Pay 30 bucks, run in the buck
...or in briefs, a banana-hammock, hell, a thong
might be comfortable...
St. Louis is joining a number of other cities
that have sponsored the
run going back ten years now. According to the official Undy 5000 Web site
organizers hope to eventually bring the race to cities in all 50
"We need people to talk about colorectal cancer at their doctor's
office, around the dinner table
, at the grocery store
, while waiting in
line at the local car wash
...everywhere," says the site. "CCA [Colon Cancer Alliance] is
willing to do anything to get people to speak out about colorectal
cancer. A crowd of people in their boxers...eventually in hundreds of
towns in the United States...will help us get there."
While Unreal can't exactly imagine strolling up to the salad bar at our local Schnucks and smarting, "Well, my colorectal region feels right-about dandy today, how 'bout yours?!",
we've finally found a road race we don't have to buckle up and run from.
