Hard to miss the sirens, or the RFT...
Unreal couldn't help feeling consternation this morning upon finding Jeremy Kohler's "Political Fix" blog re: Mayor Francis Slay and one of his lobbyists, Lou Hamilton
, ever so prominently displayed on the STLtoday home page beneath a story about Slay's hard-knuckled re-election campaign.
Did you see it
Slay, whose office most definitely has Hamilton on speed-dial, told Kohler he didn't know Hamilton kept flashing lights and sirens
-- you know, old-fashioned emergency-response doodads
reserved for police officers, EMTs, fire personnel -- in his GMC Yukon Denali.
's Kristen Hinman reported way back in early 2006
that Hamilton and his pal Patrick McCarthy
were tricking out on the flashing lights and sirens before and after the Mayor's Mardi Gras Ball
Apparently Slay's press aides didn't clip that 965-word nugget for Hizzoner.
Still, you'd think the mayor of a struggling 300-and-whatever-thousand-person city (most recently named the tenth most miserable in the U.S.
) would make an effort to glance at every local publication once a week -- even if it was while jogging on the treadmill or ascending to the mayoral throne
Here's hoping Slay has a good excuse if he comes a'knocking on Unreal's door before the March primary. Unreal tends to study the candidates very carefully before heading into the voting booth.
