Go! St. Louis Weekend Calendar, January 2-4, 2008

Not totally satisfied with your weekend itinerary? Never fear, Go! is here! This regular feature delivers the can't-miss activities to complete your fun-seeking agenda. Looking for live music? Here's your St. Louis weekend concert calendar.

Feel good on Friday, the first night of the first weekend of a fresh year. So go out there and enjoy it. If you laid low on New Year's Eve, Friday may be the night to head out to Feel Good Fridays at Miso on Meramec (16 North Meramec Avenue) in Clayton. And if you partied like it was 1999 -- err, 2009 -- on New Year's Eve, you may as well keep that bender going into the weekend. Let Alison Sieloff fill you in on the details for Friday night's place to see/be seen.

As I type this, the Let's Go Fishing Show is underway in Collinsville, Illinois. As Nicole Becker writes in our calendar section, "It's super cold outside now, but that doesn't mean you can't sharpen your fishing skills." Well put! The convention goes on through Sunday at the Gateway Center (1 Gateway Drive in C-ville.) Admission is between $3 and $7. Bone up on your fishing knowledge before you hit the water on that rare warm day of winter. While you're at it, read about St. Louis Best Fishing Hole.

Tasty sandwiches, chips, and photos of blues men on the walls mix with live tunes at Blues City Deli (2438 McNair Avenue) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Benton Park neighborhood. The Rum Drum Ramblers will perform live at the cozy sammich shop -- for free. Grab a big turkey hoagie for a friend who can't be there and warm up inside Blues City Deli.

The Bald Eagles that show up along the Mississippi River each winter inspire awe and cause the occasional car wreck. But on Saturday -- and every Saturday through the end of January -- you can see the stately birds of prey up close, while far high-speed traffic of the Great River Road. The Eagle Meet-and-Greets at the Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau (200 Piasa Street) are free and take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday. Lots of eagle factoids are available via the always informative Q-and-A session.

Take in a night Blues game at the Scottrade Center as the home team faces the Columbus Bluejackets. There's been a lot of buzz about NHL hockey in the past few days, especially after another successful New Year's Day game -- played outdoors on Chicago's Wrigley Field. The Blues game starts at 7:30 p.m. and there are tickets for sale. Blues fans are a proud bunch and if you're lucky you may even see the "40 Ounces" jersey.
