The Post-Dispatch Web site doesn't seem to have posted this info yet, but according to a story in the Reno Gazette-Journal, former Post editor Cole Campbell died in a single-car accident earlier today in Reno, when he rolled his 1999 Honda SUV on icy pavement.

Since July 2004 Campbell, who was 53, had been dean of the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. He served as top editor at the Post from 1996 to 2000.

Update: stltoday.com does have the Associated Press story from Reno, here.

And RFT references to Campbell and his tenure are indexed here.
