We got some heat for you this month. Your March will be a fun one -- we're packed with shows by national acts, local acts and local acts that have since gone national. You can't lose this month; the combination of hip-hop and the arrival of spring is a win-win. Take that, winter.
Dj ifugginroq, Diop, MME, Azn, Spacekizz at Blank Space March 13 8:30 p.m. / $10
Both February and March have Friday the Thirteenths this year -- bizarre right? Join us for round two of freaky fun at Cherokee's Blank Space for Ether 13, featuring the music of some of our local favorites and the artwork of Michelle Johnson and Wayco Murphy. The event's aim is to celebrate the threshold of freedom through the surreal and ambiguous, and honor the gap between disbelief and acceptance. Seems accurately heavy for a Friday the Thirteenth.

Chingy at the Ready Room March 21 8 p.m. / $25-$30
Chingy is one of our most beloved local acts that took it national -- right after Nelly, of course. And, yes, we've forgiven Chingy for coming up with the pretty demeaning chicken-head dance, because "Right Thurr" is just so damn catchy. The video's got us all kinds of nostalgic for early 2000s style and the Nelly era. Initially, fellow St. Louis rappers Murphy Lee and Kyjuan were also on the show, but both dropped under mysterious circumstances. What's beef?
Earl Sweatshirt with Vince Staples and Remy Banks at the Ready Room March 24 8 p.m. / $25-$30
If you're more of an underground, indie hip-hop head, then this is a pretty epic lineup for you. First, we've got Earl Sweatshirt, who came up as a member of Odd Future and soon broke out on his own, releasing his first album, Earl, before getting shipped off to Samoa by his mother. But he was able to come back, resume his career and drop a second killer album, Doris. Next is Vince Staples, another California kid who just released his latest project, Hell Can Wait, which knocks from start to finish. Finally we've got Remy Banks, a member of New York rap group World's Fair, and definitely an MC to be on the lookout for. You probably want to arrive early for this one.
