[Update: Yep, we were right.]
Pointfest's lineup for 2014 is going to be officially announced this evening at 5 p.m. on the local "alternative rock" station the Point (KPNT 105.7), but we have pretty solid reason to believe we've guessed who one of the headliners will be, and that band is Queens of the Stone Age.
Here's what leads us to this conclusion:
QOTSA will be touring with "drone-metal-art-folk" singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe this spring, according to these dates recently posted on Songkick. The site lists a stop from the two acts on May 10 at Verizon Wireless. Click here or see the screen shot below:
And at the moment Ticketmaster has dates listed for QOTSA in Iowa and Kansas City on May 11 and 13, respectively, meaning the band will certainly be in the area. Last year's Pointfest took place on May 14, so the timing looks right, and this QOTSA show has not yet been officially announced, which also seems to point (get it?) toward it being part of a larger festival.
We will confirm all of this after the official announcement is made, but in the meantime enjoy the hearsay and conjecture.
