The Ten Best Shows in St. Louis This Weekend: February 15 to 17

Vintage Trouble - Friday @ The Demo
  • Vintage Trouble - Friday @ The Demo

Everyone's sick this week! I've quarantined myself in my little cube corner all week OD'ing on oranges and gummy vitamins, staring at the box of Kleenex on my desk and nervously awaiting my turn. As a wise man once said, the only prescription for this fever is more cowbell, and while I can't guarantee that any of the shows this weekend dare to venture down that path, it's probably better to accept the inevitable and forge forward. Music cures all, does it not? Read on for this weekend's show recommendations, including the likes of Lord Infamous, Vintage Trouble and a roller disco!

Friday (Feb. 15):

Jukebox the Ghost w/ Matt Pond, The Lighthouse and the Whaler, We Should Leave This Tree @ The Firebird 8 p.m. | $13/$15 Brooklyn rock trio Jukebox the Ghost returns to town again, this time with Matt Pond, the Lighthouse and the Whaler, and nearly-locals We Should Leave This Tree in tow. (DH)

Lord Infamous w/ Par tee, Frayser Boy, Misc Ellaneous, Wyte Music @ Fubar 7 p.m. | $15 Lord Infamous is part of the Three Six Mafia, so I'd suggest drinking a couple of bottles of cough syrup before the show if you want to fit in. (DH)

Joe Stickley CD Release w/ Chicago Farmer, Cindy Woolf & Mark Bilyeu @ Off Broadway 8 p.m.|$10 RFT Music's own Roy Kasten did an outstanding interview with Mr. Stickley in regards to this release; read all about it. (DH)

Vintage Trouble w/ The Soul Selector Tom "Papa" Ray @ The Demo 9 p.m. | $15/$18 Blues has never looked as smooth as it does on Vintage Trouble's sharp suits, and the tunes sound just as sleek. (MS)

Saturday (Feb. 16):

Bob Reuter's Alley Ghost w/ Luella and the Sun, Melody Den @ Off Broadway 8:30 p.m. | $5/$8 Bob's seen some shit and would love to tell you all about it. Listen as he narrates with the help of his band of rock'n'roll heathens. (MS)

Kishi Bashi - Saturday @ The Firebird

Kishi Bashi w/ Plume Giant, Ross Christopher @ The Firebird 8:30 p.m. | $12/$14 Listen folks -- loopin' ain't easy, so it's all the more impressive when it's executed with such musical virtuosity and violin-plucking beauty. (MS)

Male Bondage w/ White Fire, Trauma Harness @ Livery Company 9 p.m. | $5 Male Bondage plays some testosterone-fueled dank dude jams. Grab a brew and throw down if that's your bag. (MS)

Roller Disco w/ DJ Boogieman, DJ Invinsible Cola @ St. Louis Skatium 9:30 p.m. | $10 Disco, skates and tacos! Party, party, party! Disco duds encouraged, of course. (MS)

Pistol and the Sisters CD Release w/ Pat Eagan of The Royal Smokestacks, Gary Schoenberger @ Plush 11 p.m. | $5 I got a package in the mail yesterday containing this new five-song CD, as well as a t-shirt. I liked the look of the shirt a lot, and it was even my size, so I realllly wanted to like the CD. When it started playing there was no question Pistol and the Sisters shred Americana style, with impressive chops and irreverent lyricism-- go to this show. (DH)

Sunday (Feb. 17):

The Humanoids w/ Masked Intruder, The Fuck Off and Dies, Perdition, Eaten Back to Life @ Cicero's 7:45 p.m. | $10 Masked Intruder, who recently played the Dudes Magazine release show at Lemmon's, just can't seem to get enough of St. Louis. See them this time with the Humanoids -- a perfect pairing of pop-punk peers. (DH)
