Where in the world isn't Pokey LaFarge these days? In the past year, he's made all sorts of waves -- on the radio, over the ocean and even on TV, culminating a wide range of adoring fans. Between appearing on Jools Holland's NYE Hootenanny, backing up Jack White and performing on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, the American roots artist proves time and time again to be a prolific musical tour de force. Pokey LaFarge and The South City Three's resume extends now to include the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2013.
The fest, an annual tradition since 1970, takes place ten minutes away from the French Quarter in N'awlins from April 26 through May 5. Contrary to the prominent "jazz" in its name, the epic event features an array of artists including everything from Billy Joel and B.B. King to Patti Smith and Earth, Wind & Fire.
Pokey Lafarge and his backing band appear on stage on Thursday, May 2. Check out the official New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival website for the full schedule -- You can even create your own custom fantasy festival line-up out of the already-admitted acts to perform alongside Pokey. Say, for instance, you'd prefer if headliner Dave Matthews Band didn't crash into him. On the contrary, Taj Mahal & the Real Thing Tuba Band certainly sounds like a promising accomplice.
