DAVE MATTHEWS BAND IN 2007
  • Dave Matthews Band in 2007

Dave Matthews Band has just announced its 2012 tour, and the extensive itinerary includes a stop in St. Louis -- Maryland Heights, technically -- at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (I-70 & Earth City Expressway. Maryland Heights, 314-298-9944). Brandi Carlile, who is spectacular live, will open. The pairing makes sense; Dave Matthews was one of the earliest supporters of Carlile after she impressed him at a 2003 set at the Sasquatch Music Festival.

DMB's output in the last few years has all been live -- its last studio album was 2009's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Not that this is a band that struggles to fill amphitheaters or will for a very long time.

Presale tickets are available to DMB Warehouse Fan Association members tomorrow, February 16, at 10 a.m. The general sale date is March 9. Prices range from $40.50 to $75.00.

Fansite presales are common today, but when the Warehouse Fan Association started in 1998 they were decidedly less so. Dave Matthews Band was well ahead of the curve in developing a community online, which is part of the reason it has enjoyed such lasting success.
