Update, 2/14: This is your final chance to get yourself on the nominating committee. If you feel your perspective will help us find the hundred best bands and artists in St. Louis, email me at kiernan DOT maletsky AT riverfrontimes.com with the subject line "2012 RFT Music Awards Nominating Committee" and brief introduction.
Original post follows...
The RFT Music Showcase is back: June 2nd on Washington Avenue. There will be dancing, drinking, sweating (hopefully not as much as last year -- holy hell it was hot) and, of course, the best single gathering of St. Louis bands and artists anywhere. The lineup is selected from the finalists for the RFT Music Awards, and with your help it will be the definitive list of this city's best.
In the comments below, tell us which artists from the St. Louis region you think should be nominated this year. Please note that the official ballot will be constructed by a committee of experts and is not a popularity contest. So don't bother getting all your friends and fans to blitz this post -- that will only serve to annoy us. If, however, your suggestions are especially thoughtful or demonstrate a strong perspective on some genre or scene, we'll make you an official part of the nominating committee. Please include your email address in the submission form or the comment itself if you'd like to be considered.
For those looking for a little grease to get the gears turning, last year's winners and categories are listed on the next page. Note that we won't be using this exact list of categories for this year's Awards. You can also read about all of last year's nominees:
