The Village Voice has been running the definitive music critic's year-end poll for 39 years now, and its results are live. Your winners: tUnE-yArDs w h o k i l l unseats Kanye West in the album category and Adele continues to trample all over everything in the singles department. Go look at the complete results from some 700 of the nation's finest music writing talent.
Many of your RFT Music writers participated in this year's poll; feel free to peruse for their individual ballots. Village Voice Music Editor Maura Johnston gives a particular shout-out to Amanda Woytus, now the copy chief in New York, who's first assignment as a member of the Village Voice Media team was the exceedingly thankless task of fact-checking the 2011 RFT Music Showcase feature this past spring.
2011 was a wonderful year for music -- we are thrilled to see tUnE-yArDs atop the list and equally excited to note the presence of PJ Harvey, Fucked Up, St. Vincent, Paul Simon and M83 in the top 20. Wilco's The Whole Love checks in at #22 -- a highly respectable finish.
Now go spend some time with the only year-end lists that really matter.
