One of the biggest success stories in independent music, Dispatch, has added a St. Louis date to its 2011 comeback tour. Ready your Birkenstocks: The band will play the Pageant on August 30. Tickets are $40 and go on sale June 24 at noon through the Pageant box office or Ticketmaster.
Dispatch played a final concert to 110,000 back in 2004, and the slow-burning hints at the band's reunion started last fall. The trio played a comeback show at Red Rocks just a couple weeks ago, and the release of a new self-titled EP earlier this year suggests that this is more than a quick-hit cash-in.
Dispatch played a show last Friday at Terminal 5 in New York and donated all the proceeds to the Amplifying English initiative. On the band's website, the show was characterized as "intimate," and Dispatch is one of something like a dozen bands on the planet that can play a show at Terminal 5 (capacity: 3,000) and call it intimate.
