Cali Swag District's M-Bone died today from gunshot wounds he sustained late last night in a drive-by shooting. He was much more important to the group for his charismatic presence than for his rapping, but frankly that's what matters most about Cali Swag District anyway. He was 22 years old.
The group's "Teach Me How To Dougie" is such a pervasive phenomenon that Wolf Blitzer did the dance at the Soul Train Awards. Something tells us we'll look back on ringtone rap much more fondly than it has been received as it happens, but now is not the time to think hard about what this music means. Now is the time to Dougie.
