Friday: Christmas with Pokey @ The Sheldon Ballroom Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three provide holiday cheer. Read what LaFarge has been up to (and then see him again as part of Rhythm & Rails on Saturday). 8 p.m. With the Western Satellites. $10.

The Definition of Dance @ 2720 Cherokee The Hot House Sessions (a.k.a. our last collector standing this week, Alexis Tucci Hansen) and the Soulition (with Nappy DJ Needles and Enoch is Real), along with an opening set by local house legend Luan Le, mark this must-attend event. 9 p.m. $5. 21-plus only.

El Monstero @ The Pageant The annual Pink Floyd covers extravaganza kicks off tonight. And it's sold out. (So is Saturday's show -- and all of the other El Monstero shows, save for the one on Christmas night.) 8 p.m.

A Very Rockin' Christmas @ Off Broadway It's a covers bonanza, with LOGOS reprising its Rush cover set, Makeshift Gentlemen performing as the Doors and Science Hill doing Incubus. 9 p.m. 21-plus: $10. Under 21: $13.

Saturday A Very Bert Dax Christmas, Volume 8 CD Release @ Way Out Club M.S.I.F., King Kong Magnetics and Mustard Rob help celebrate the release of the latest local Christmas CD curated by Matt Harnish. 9 p.m. $5. Shame Club @ Blueberry Hill's Duck Room The stoner-metal powerhouse returns to the stage with an all-new lineup -- but with the same determination to crush eardrums and melt faces. 9 p.m. With Lions of Hazelwood and Jake Austin and the City Limits. $8.
