Legendary singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman is coming to Off Broadway on Wednesday, February 16. His drummer, Tommy Larkin, will be along for the ride. Tickets are $15, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Richman was last in town -- at the same venue -- in October 2008; then, Christian Schaeffer wrote, Many of the songs from Richman's nearly 40-year career are imbued with a sense of wonderment at life's little joys. But his reliance on whimsy doesn't keep the singer-songwriter from tackling more adult concerns: Much of 1996's Surrender to Jonathan dwelled on his divorce, and many of his fan-favorites show the sharp edge of love's keen blade." The live cut below has...well, a bit of everything.
