Ian over at Gut Check posted the news yesterday that Loop staple Riddle's Penultimate Café & Wine Bar is closed "until further notice." The restaurant/bar was also known for hosting live music, including several memorable sets every year during the RFT's Music Showcase.
The blogpost goes on to note that on October 28, Bobby's Creole Inc. "filed a suit in St. Louis County for "AC Rent and Possession" against A&P Eateries Inc. (Riddle's) and Katherine (better known as KT) Ayers, the owner of Riddle's." When Ian reached Ayers via email, she said:
Circumstances in my life made it impossible to put in the time and effort that it has been taking to pull this restaurant thing off. We tried bringing someone else in, but that really seemed to compromise a lot of the Riddle's brand. We are looking at a couple different roads right now, but nothing is in stone. What I can tell you is that I won't be operating Riddle's in the near future, and neither will my father.
We'll link to any further Gut Check coverage as it happens.
