Ten Halloween-Themed Things To Do This Weekend

It's Halloween weekend! Spooky! Don your best costume and head out to the following events. Don't forget to check our main music page for more concerts going on around town this weekend.

Friday: Skate or Die! @ The St. Louis Skatium Rollerskating, live bands and scary costumes have all the makings of a horror movie -- or a great Friday night. The event features music from the Felons, the Non-Breeders (a.k.a. Cassie Morgan and crew playing Breeders songs), Celia's Big Rock Band and FIRE DOG. 10 p.m. $10 admission includes skates. Attendees are encouraged to "dress scary." Facebook event.

Monster Mash Art Bash @ Koken Art Factory This five-hour shindig has a little bit of everything: Halloween-themed art to buy, live music from the Feed and Upright Animals, a tarot card reader, a fashion show and a performance from the STL Hoop Club. 7 p.m. $5. 18-plus. Facebook event.

Saturday: DJ Mahf's Third-Annual Halloween Funk Jam @ The Fox Hole at Atomic Cowboy For the third year in a row, as local DJ-around-town Mahf hosts a Halloween Funk Jam at the Fox Hole at Atomic Cowboy. Besides Mahf, performers include Midwest Avengers, Earthworms, Spark1duh and DJ Who, Jonezy and Steddy P. Also look for live art from Indyground's Magic 8. $7, 9 p.m. 21-plus. Costumes encouraged. Umphrey's McGee @ The Pageant Progressive rock band Umphrey's McGee is digging in for the weekend at the Pageant and celebrating its third-annual Monster Mash-Up. The Chicago band is performing Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 day of show. 8 p.m. All-ages.

D:Fuse @ Europe Nightclub D:Fuse's appearance at Europe is billed as a "Halloween Thriller." Judging by the talents and reputation of the LA-based producer, drummer, and vocalist, expect nothing less. 9 p.m. $10 to $15. Tickets available here. Halloween Rawk-n-Roll Show and Costume Party @ Schlafly Bottleworks Local garage-rockers the Hot Liquors and the Nevermores entertain, as does a costume contest. 9 p.m. Facebook event Sunday: This Must Be the Band (Talking Heads tribute) @ Old Rock House This Chicago-based tribute band is becoming well-known in STL for its faithful renditions of Talking Heads classics. Beatles tribute Where's Charlie? is also playing. 9 p.m. $10. ($7 at the door with an Umphrey McGee ticket.) 18+ only.

Deer Tick/Band of Heathens @ Off Broadway You never know what's going to happen when raucous folkers Deer Tick roll into town. A show on Halloween? Guaranteed to be extra-epic. Fellow folk-tinged act Band of Heathens opens. 8 p.m. $12 in advance, $15 day of show.

Electric Six/The Constellations @ The Firebird Always-entertaining electro-rockers Electric Six never let their shtick get in the way of a good hook -- or a well-crafted song. The Constellations, a Southern-fried band of rockers with plenty of buzz, open. 8:30 p.m. $15.
