Next weekend, the first St. Louis Secret Sound Festival is happening on Cherokee Street (and just beyond). To recap: On Friday night, October 29, at Off Broadway, the festivities kick off with a show featuring So Many Dynamos, Ad Astra Arkestra and Jookabox. On Saturday, locals and nationals take over various venues on Cherokee -- including 2720 Cherokee, Apop Records and Foam, among others -- from noon onward. Bands participating include Spelling Bee, Sleepy Kitty, Theodore, Dubb Nubb, Scripts N Screwz, Netherfriends, Cowboy Indian Bear and more. A full schedule is here. (Full disclosure: I'm also DJing for an hour on Saturday.) A Saturday night after-party at 2720 Cherokee will feature Black Spade. Tickets are just $10.
Courtesy of the lovely folks behind the festival, we have three pairs of passes to give away to the Saturday afternoon portion of the event. Winning is simple: Last night, the SSSF crew spray-chalked and wheat-pasted their logo and festival name all over the city -- the Loop, South Grand, the Central West End, Cherokee and elsewhere. The first three people to send in a picture of the logo in its natural habit will win a pair! Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org a snap. (Non-hi-res, please!) The contest closes at NOON on Monday, October 25. We'll publish the photos and winner names on the blog Tuesday. Good luck, and happy hunting!
