Most of us have seen it at one time or another -- the person who approaches the DJ and asks to rifle through his or her records, who requests a song completely out of context, who insists that he could do a better job.
Well, backseat DJs, here's your chance to shine.
Tuesday at the Wedge is now Vinyl Fight night, although the actual process is much more civilized than the name implies. There's a host DJ for the evening, and everyone is welcome to show up with a crate of records and sign up for a 15- to 20-minute set. Think of it as an open-mike night for DJs. Drew Somervell, also known as DJ Turkey Leg, is tonight's host.
There's no cover charge for the evening, and no prerequisites for DJs to test out their talents. There are drink specials, but they're different every night, and are currently TBA. The fight starts at 9 p.m.
The Wedge has dedicated Tuesdays to DJ prodigies since late January, but recently the event has been picking up steam. So, bring out your collection and take a spin at spinnin' records.
