Holiday Jam Countdown '09: Leadville, "Lump of Coal"

(Like last year, A to Z will post a holiday-related MP3 every day of December, leading up to Christmas. If you have any requests, suggestions or files to share, email me.)

This year, Leadville released Time Kills, its debut album. (Read our review here.) Last week, the band passed along "Lump of Coal," which is a seasonal version of that album's "Rocks." Fans of R.E.M.'s silly, fanclub-only singles will certainly dig the rickety, twangy tune. (Anyone who's fond of Wussy's freaked-folk and bits of Modest Mouse's catalog will also likely find the song enjoyable.) Enjoy it below!
