Saw this on local blog Old Skool Review: It's the end of an era, because the infamous mail-order company BMG Music Club apparently is no longer adding new members. Blogger Dan includes a screencap that gives the bad news. Back in the day when cheap CDs were an imperative -- teenage allowance, naturally -- BMG was the club of choice, one whose prices were much more reasonable than Columbia House. (That didn't stop me from being in both clubs, however.) I also know more than one person who scammed both clubs for free stuff (and the number of times I returned packages to sender because I forgot to return the stupid "don't send me stuff" card always gave my parents fits). Incidentally, Columbia House appears to be alive and kicking.
