Pollstar tells me that Matthew Sweet and Tommy Stinson have birthdays today! The former is 44; the latter 42.
Both are in the news as well. Stinson recently told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he and fellow Replacement Paul Westerberg (along with ex-Prince drummer Michael Bland, who toured with Westerberg a few years ago and came to St. Louis with Soul Asylum in late September) recently "mess[ed] around" playing music. Stinson also plays in Guns N' Roses, and the last four albums by the Replacements were recently reissued with bonus tracks.
Sweet, meanwhile, released an album called Sunshine Lies in August and is going on tour (although not coming here. Ah well.) Some classic tunes from both men after the jump.
Matthew Sweet, "Sick of Myself" (remember when he rated as an MTV buzz artist? sigh.)
