Steve Wynn is no stranger to local venues: As a solo artist and as part of the Dream Syndicate, he's played Off Broadway, old Cicero's, Twangfest and the Pageant (opening for Concrete Blonde). In fact, he'll be returning to Off Broadway on Saturday, November 15, with his band the Miracle 3, in support of the new Crossing Dragon Bridge.
(Baseball Project; Wynn is second from left) That's not the only thing Wynn has been up to, though. He's also co-founder (along with Scott McCaughey) of The Baseball Project, an outfit dedicated to penning, er, songs about baseball. (Peter Buck and Linda Pitmon round out the ensemble.) Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails, the band's debut, covers Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson -- and the Lou's own Mark McGwire. Catch a stream of that tune, "Broken Man," below.
