I hope everyone has their datebooks out, because the fall concert season is, to put it mildly, insane in the membrane here in St. Louis. Adding to the mayhem? Now that school is on the verge of starting, the two college venues are starting to announce shows. Wash U's Gargoyle has Ratatat over Labor Day weekend (August 30, to be specific), the Cribs on September 11 and Broken Social Scene on October 18. (With the amazing Land of Talk opening the latter show. Hi, who's carpooling with me to the Columbia date? BSS were astounding at Lollapalooza.)
The Billiken Club at St. Louis University, meanwhile, has announced a whole slew of shows here. Highlights include:
September 11: Liam Finn with the Veils September 13: Centro-matic with Ohtis September 18: Pattern is Movement September 20: Dark Meat September 24: Felice Brothers with AA Bondy September 25: Darker My Love September 26: Damien Jurado (his new record, Caught in the Trees, is astoundingly beautiful, btw.com) September 30: Awesome Color October 25: Parts & Labor
Good lord. I'm not going to sleep this fall.
