Belle and Sebastian Covers Dinosaur Jr., Van Halen

Get an MP3 of Belle and Sebastian covering Dinosaur Jr.'s "Freak Scene" (and view a video of the band breaking into Van Halen's "Jump") at You Ain't No Picasso. Even weirder: Judging from the comments, I was totally at the Belle and Sebastian show from which this Dino Jr. cover was recorded! I remember the band covering "Gigantic" (it sent me into a huge Pixies spiral), but I don't recall this at all. It's eerie how much Stuart Murdoch sounds like J. Mascis.

Here's the cover of "Gigantic." It's really for completists only. Trust me.

MP3: Belle and Sebastian, "Gigantic" (Live in Boston, May 2002)

Here's a much better Pixies cover:

MP3: April March, "Alec Eiffel"

And there are two much better Belle and Sebastian covers:

MP3: Belle and Sebastian, "So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star" (Byrds cover)

MP3: Belle and Sebastian: "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" (Smiths cover)
