I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that LaPush is playing a free show at the Billiken Club tomorrow night, April 28, as a prelude to the mini-residency it's doing at the Lucas School House on May 1 and May 8. This flurry of live activity is in advance of Modern Blues, the six-song EP it's releasing with a show at Pop's on June 2.
The trio's earning some early accolades for the disc: The Web site Kings of A&R (which has also trumpeted Ludo quite a bit) gave the band a solid thumbs-up in a post this past week, while the moving, emotional "Closer" -- a tune that sounds like Snow Patrol dreamily slow-dancing with Doves, as U2 and the Verve try to cut in -- has been earning some love from The Point (105.7 FM). Expect this song to be picked up by some CW11 teen drama or MTV show soon. For reals.
