Gus' Pretzels Is Giving Out Free Pretzels Friday for Its 99th Birthday

  • Gus' Pretzels has been in Benton Park for almost a century.
Friday is National Pretzel Day, but that's not the only reason Gus' Pretzels (1820 Arsenal Street, 314-664-4010) is celebrating. After all, how often does a pretzel maker live to see 99?

The Benton Park institution, founded in 1920, is celebrating its 99th birthday by promising to give away away pretzels all day. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., this Friday, April 26, every customer who stops by the shop gets one. The only caveat: It's one per customer while supplies last. But it's hard to imagine they'll run out any time soon; Gus' averages 8,000 new pretzels baked every day.

The day's celebrations will also include live German music and Fitz's root beer from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. We'll toast to that!
