It was a busy month in the St. Louis suburbs. Pi Pizzeria closed in Kirkwood, citing its landlord's redevelopment plans. Vernon's BBQ also saw a much-lamented closure in University City, while candy shop Rocket Fizz said goodbye to the Loop.
But more than a few exciting openings made up for it. In addition to a new location of the Shack in O'Fallon and Growler USA in St. Charles, a glamorous new karaoke lounge opened its doors in the Loop and acclaimed bartender Ted Kilgore opened his mixology-meets-dive-bar spot, Small Change, in Benton Park. Oh, and Bevo Mill got a Syrian restaurant, one founded by refugees.
