All the Aldi grocery store locations in the St. Louis are getting a makeover thanks to a $39 million renovation project.

The grocery store chain is a cult favorite, with customers constantly talking it up as the cheaper, off-brand version of its sister store, Trader Joe's. But unlike Trader Joe's, Aldi stores usually had a bare-bones, industrial appearance with slapdash organization, lighting that was a total buzzkill and color schemes that could be described as haphazard at best.

Now all of that is changing. Aldi has been working on its branding and appearance, and the results are magnificent.

The first local store to get a redesign was the Aldi in University City. This location reopened yesterday, and we stopped in to get some photos and give you a feel for what will soon be coming to your neighborhood.
