If you're looking for something unusual for breakfast — and by unusual, we mean "unusually delicious" — a new book suggests you should head to St. Charles, pronto.

Lee Brian Schrager, the author of America's Best Breakfasts, has chosen a dish at Prasino (1520 S. 5th Street, St. Charles; 636-277-0202) not just for his book, but also for a recent USA Today roundup highlighting his ten top picks

As the newspaper explained,
If you have a sweet tooth, it’s going to be hard not to love the pretzel croissant French toast at this farm-to-table eatery near St. Louis. The dish comes topped with caramel and white chocolate sauce. “It’s a combination of everything I love,” Schrager says.

The sugary-and-salty baked item was created by Chef Tony Marchetto — sort of a "curve ball for those with a sweet tooth," in the words of a restaurant spokesman. Not surprisingly, it's become an in-the-know favorite, with word-of-mouth bringing in new diners excited to try it.

But hey, now the cat's out of the bag. Which means you don't need insider information to mosey on over and give this one a try. Your tastebuds may be very, very grateful.
