Crepes Etc. Closes in the Central West End — New Concept Planned

Crepes Etc. — the Central West End mainstay that was among the RFT's Ten Best Brunches and, more recently, "Best Place for a First Date" — has closed its doors.

The closure at 52 Maryland Plaza took place two weeks ago, on February 25, but as best we can tell, it's gone unreported until now, even missing those month-end lists of openings and closings (including, yes, our own)

On its Facebook page, the cafe's sister restaurant, Scape American Bistro, indicated that an "exciting new concept" would open in the space this spring

Sam Koplar, a partner in Scape, said he foresees an announcement in a few months. "Crepes Etc. was a great concept, but it had kind of run its course," he says. "We have a new idea coming."

Strange Trap Kitchen, the Strange Donuts concept inside Brennan's, also closed last year, leaving two fewer breakfast/brunch spots in the same two-block area at the center of the bustling neighborhood.

But while Strange Trap Kitchen was a relative newcomer, opening its doors in late 2015, Crepes Etc. had a much longer run in the Central West End, serving its namesake item along with breakfast and lunch fare for eight years.
