Dunkin Donuts Plans Blitz of New Outlets in St. Louis

If you're a fan of Dunkin Donuts — and who among us isn't? — we've got some good news for you.

An Omaha-based franchisee plans to open 14 new outlets in the St. Louis area in the next seven years or so — a blitz of new stores for a brand with a relatively small footprint in the area. Right now, there are just 10 Dunkin Donuts within 20 miles of downtown, and that includes the two small counters at Lambert airport. This new plan would more than double that.

Kris Brown of the Berliner Group tells Riverfront Times that he and his partners already own four franchises in Omaha and are about to own their third in Kansas City. "We're excited to expand our network and get into the St. Louis market," he says. "It's a great opportunity in an untapped market."

As for locations, it's too soon to talk specifics. Brown says only that the new stores will cover a swath from west county to Illinois, including downtown St. Louis and the parts of north county that are north of Olivette.

And these won't just be kiosks. "We're looking at freestanding stores or end-cap locations in shopping centers, with drive-throughs," he says.

Expect to see two or three new stores in 2016 — and many, many more after that. Hope you guys are hungry!
