Insomnia Cookies (226 North Euclid Avenue) now has a homegrown competitor: Hot Box Cookies (3 North Euclid Avenue; 314-899-0909) has arrived from Columbia. The late-night cookie bakery opened in the Central West End on February 11 and is celebrating its grand opening this Friday, February 27.
Hot Box, known for its late-night deliveries of gooey homemade cookies, gained a following among Mizzou students after opening in 2008. There is also a location in Lawrence, Kansas.
Insomnia Cookies has a similar concept but is a chain based on the East Coast. It opened in the Central West End in October and quickly followed with a Loop location. We think we just might have to stage a taste-off.
Hot Box is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from noon to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight. You can score two free cookies at Friday's grand opening if you go in between 5 and 10 p.m., like Hot Box St. Louis on Facebook or follow on Twitter, share or retweet the post. If you share Hot Box's grand opening event on Facebook (here), you'll also be automatically entered to win twelve free cookies. Happy hot boxing.
