We love a good fish fry (and there are plenty to choose from), but some of our favorite St. Louis restaurants are offering limited-run, seafood-focused menus to help you stay on track during lent. Or, you know, you could just have a McDonald's Filet-o-Fish.
Riverbend Restaurant & Bar (1059 South Big Bend Boulevard, Richmond Heights; 314-664-8443)
This is the perfect excuse to check out Riverbend's expanded space in Richmond Heights. The New Orleans restaurant will have a different seafood special each Friday night. Last week the appetizer was savory crawfish and crabmeat cheesecake and the entree mahi mahi served with couscous and fresh vegetables. Of course, there's a ton of seafood on the regular menu, too.
Llywelyn's (multiple locations)
Llywelyn's is making it easy to eat fish all over town at any of its six locations. Every Friday, you can order from the special menu of fish and chips, seafood pot pies, homemade clam chowder, crab cakes and more. The menu will be available until Easter.
Mathew's Kitchen (5625 Hampton Avenue; 314-351-1700)
The Mardi Gras menu is over, but Mathew's has a special Lenten selection in its place. Every Friday during Lent, choose from lobster pot pie, sea scallops in a garlic-chile teriyaki sauce, shrimp risotto, a New England lobster roll, lobster mac & cheese and shrimp scampi, plus menu regulars fish and chips, crap cakes and shrimp and grits.
Pietro's Restaurant (3801 Watson Road; 314-645-9263)
Pietro's does an annual Lenten special, and it's one that's hard to beat. Stop by for $5.55 Fish Fridays. Choose from fried cod, Jack salmon, fried catfish, grilled grouper or grilled tilapia.
Nadoz Cafe (3701 Lindell Boulevard; 314-446-6800)
Nadoz Cafe is offering several options for both lunch and dinner, and most are available at both locations on Fridays. Try the egg-salad sandwich, grilled salmon salad, grilled salmon wrap or a tuna-salad sandwich. Every Friday during Lent at Nadoz at the Coronado is Fish Fry night: Tempura-battered cod, cottage fries and cole slaw for $6.50.
