LouFest favorite Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams has announced it will open its first Missouri location in the Central West End next year. The (small) chain is based in Columbus, Ohio, but owner Jeni Britton Bauer's husband is actually from St. Louis.

The shop will be at 389-391 North Euclid Avenue, and it's set to open in the spring. Jeni's, which counts shops in New York City, Charleston, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta, is known for using unconventional and often local ingredients. Bauer herself grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and has made a gooey-butter cake flavor and used purveyors such asAskinosie Chocolate from Springfield.

But if you just can't wait, you can pick up some Jeni's at Straub's or order ice creams, sorbet, frozen yogurt, ice-cream sandwiches, toppings and more online here.

"St. Louis is one of my favorite cities in the world. I love its combination of cosmopolitan flair and manufacturing grit, and it's also the hometown of my husband, Charly. I've always loved St. Louis' distinct neighborhoods," Bauer said in a statement. "The Central West End, where our scoop shop will be, is such a beautiful and vibrant place, and I love that the shop will be so close to Forest Park, one of America's most awe-inspiring public spaces. I can't wait for spring -- it'll be perfect weather for strolling outside with a cone."
