Recently the space formerly filled by the longstanding La Tropicana Market opened under new ownership and a new name, albeit serving up similar Mexican and Cuban favorites. El Tropical (5001 Lindenwood Avenue; 314-833-3513) debuted on August 29 featuring tacos, taquitos, Cuban sandwiches and more. Owner Daime Gomez cooks up some Cuban dishes from his native country while chef Lorena Munoz brings a hefty offering of Mexican fare to the table.
El Tropical's menu features tacos, gorditas, burritos, chimichangas, tortas, fajitas, rotisserie chicken, green enchiladas, refried peppers, seafood including shrimp and fried fish, menudo, tamales, Cuban sandwiches and more. Filling options for tacos and more include beef tongue, chicken and chorizo, to name a few.
A menu of $7 combos includes platters such as one taco plus two enchiladas, one burrito plus one tamale and one taco, and several more options to build your own sampler. El Tropical's current hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. For more information, call 314-833-3513.
