J. Gumbo's (312 North Tenth Street; 314-696-2500) has closed its downtown location. The Lindell location, which had to rebuild after an extensive fire, remains open. The downtown J. Gumbo's opened in May 2013 while post-fire construction was still ongoing.
The closure was first reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but the location is still listed as open on the J. Gumbo's website and social media. J. Gumbo's is based in Louisville, and locations are owned by franchisees; the two St. Louis restaurants are owned by Justin King.
King did not immediately respond for requests for comment.
UPDATE 9/9/14: An employee at the J. Gumbo's on Lindell tells us that King has not been associated with the company for about seven months.
