Guajillo Mexican Grill (12683 Dorsett Road, Maryland Heights) closed in April after seven years, but the people behind it, including manager Manuel Arreola-Valles, have something up their sleeves. Itacate Mexican Grill will open at 3324 North Lindbergh Boulevard this month and offer fast Mexican food that isn't Taco Bell.
Arreola-Valles tells us Itacate will be similar to Guajillo (yay!) but with an additional focus on catering. The ingredients are all fresh with touches like house-fried tortilla chips.
"We enjoy using traditional Mexican dishes but add a flip to it," Arreola-Valles tells us. You can find the lineup here, but he says they are still working out some additional dishes. The menu includes all the Mexican favorites: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, chimichangas. The concept is "fast fresh Mexican," and itacate is actually Spanish for "food to go."
"We have been doing this for about seven years and have a great understanding of how to present Mexican food to our customers," Arreola-Valles says. "We are a family business who loves to treat every person like our family."
