The return of famers' markets all over the city is one of our favorite ways to tell it's finally spring. More and more local produce will become available in the coming weeks. all the way until fall. Sure, the Soulard Farmers' Market goes year-round, but what fun is that? (OK, lots.) The Clayton Farmers' Market opens Thursday, May 1, for the 2014 season.
There are almost 30 local vendors from hand-crafted goods to delicious local vegetables and live music. Participants this year include Baetje Farms, Earth Dance Farms, Terra Bella Farms, Southern Breeze Farms, Kuva Coffee, Crown Valley Organics, Two Men and a Garden, and lots more.
Organizers have changed the time and place this year, "patterned after a trend starting around the country." The farmers' market will be every Thursday night from May 1 to October 30 -- except July 3, September 4 and September 18 -- from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on North Central Avenue. You can check out the full list of vendors here. Are there any farmers' markets you think we should visit this summer? Let us know in the comments!
