Taj Mahal is now open at 567 Melville Avenue in University City, in the space vacated by Booster's Cafe in September. The Indian restaurant is owned by veterans of India's Rasoi in the Central West End.

"The Loop is a nice location," co-owner Merwin Rebello told us a few weeks ago. "It's a little smaller place, but I said, 'Start small and grow out.'"
Taj Mahal features traditional and modern Indian cuisine with dishes like chicken tikka marsala, paneer pakora and lamb biryani. It's open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner Tuesday through Thursday 5 to 9:30 p.m., 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
