The Precinct (1900 Locust Avenue; 314-588-8899) debuts a new menu today, March 4, along with a new chef. Owners Mark Winfield and Jim Edmonds opened the bar and grill branded as a cop hangout in October. The first setback was the SLMPD's delayed relocation next door. The second was the unfortunately named "Officer Down" food challenge. The third was decidedly lackluster reviews.
But Winfield tells us he listened to customer requests and decided to bring on a new chef, Ben Welch. The wings and burgers will remain on the menu, but there's also a brand-new smokehouse menu, featuring ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, pulled pork and more smoked in-house and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fresh bread is sourced from Breadsmith Bakery in Kirkwood. Welch added flatbreads, more salads and dips to the menu as well.
"The main reason why we changed is we were listening to our customers and neighborhood feedback," Winfield says. "We're giving the people what they want." He emphasizes that not only is everything made fresh and in-house, but the new menu is more cost-effective.
Catch the new menu for lunch and dinner beginning March 4 at 11 a.m., and be sure to let us know what you think!
